Staffing agencies

Be prepared.

Staffing agencies have rules.  Each can be different.  But be aware of these few items and it will make the CSR person take notice. 

First impressions.

You might not have thought that you were going to go out and look for a job.  But this is a first item.  Dress decently.  No oversized jeans so the boxers are showing.  Nice shirt.  A nice polo type or button down.  Something that doesn't have holes in it.  Show that you are looking.  Even if it's for a labor job, you can dress better than a ratty t-shirt.

Notes

Have your information in a folder or notebook to copy down completely. 

Have you last jobs with information needed.  Dates worked, wages beginning and ending, supervisor, address of job, what you did.

Have at least 10 years worth or the last two jobs .

References.

Have three people that you have asked to be able to be called on.

Have their name, address, phone number and how they know you, that is friend or relative.

Two forms of ID.

Some places will be working on the I-9 form of information, the Employment Eligiblilty Verification form.

Please review this form and look at page 5.  Make sure you have with you an item for Column A OR 1 item from column b AND from column c.

If you do not have your social security card or birth certificate, you need to do so immediately.  You are delaying yourself in getting a job.  Period.

I have directed many people to the vital statics office and to the social security offices here in Duval county trying to help those looking.  Some people just don't get it that this is needed now.  And if you don't have them, you will not be considered.

A short interview will be given, reviewing items, handwriting. 

Cell phones

Another item I have found to be interesting.  Cell phones.  I've had some people never take them out of their ear.  They submit their paperwork, sit filling out an application, and even interview at the end still with the item open.  Please show some respect.
